Photolympics 2009!
On a whim, I decided to participate in UCI’s third annual Photolympics competition this past month. I wasn’t planning to, but Garnet convinced me to do it, so I did. I had high hopes for some photos, but they didn’t even make the runner up cut! We have some very talented photographers at our school.
I don’t want to be a hater, but I really felt that the best photo award went to one of the weakest photos that made it into the “finals.” I saw a number of VERY STRONG photos that didn’t even get first in the category, but I guess that’s how the judging goes. To be brief, Garnet got the best travel photo award and I walked home with the best photo series. Pretty darn neat if you ask me!

My submissions for the “photo series” category:

And while I’m tooting my horn, here’s my first submission:

A two year old knows how to get in my head
Visited the East side life group today. I went a little early so I could hang out with Aidan. I seriously love this kid. Though some times I feel like he has ADD, he’s a really bright kid. For example, he knows that I hate being called Uncle Sarkis. So of course, he always calls me Uncle Sarkis. And when he does, he pauses, puts on a mischievous grin, and says, “UNCLE SARKIS!” So far, he’s called me:
Uncle Sarkis, Enoth, Noolee, Umma (which means Mom), Auntie Jason, and Dad.
But when I threaten not to play with him, he’ll say, “NO UNCLE JASHON!” Yes, just like that, with an “h.” I love playing with this guy. I like to hide somewhere and when he finds me, I jump out and scare him. He jumps like crazy, but apparently it’s really funny cause he cracks up after.

Go easy with the dancing and singing kid. Just kidding. You do what you do. Kites fly highest against the wind!
Family Vacation – San Francisco!
Here are some pictures as promised. Most of my pictures were of food, which according to 50, is a Korean thing to do. I’ll have a video up some time next week. Most definitely can’t do it this week!

Guess who’s back? Back again?
I am back from the land of good food, good wine and flamboyant men! Seriously, all we did was eat. Napa valley was cool, but I realized that it’s something you have to dedicate a whole day to. Guess that gives another reason to go back. I’m not so interested in the wine, but the food there is awesome. One thing I learned while wine tasting?
Tannins = SUCK YOUR MOUTH DRY!
Pictures and a video to come some time this week. I have to admit though, it was very hard for me to take pictures, so I didn’t. Maybe next time.
