Fake it ’til you make it?
Pastor Ben shared what he was learning through his doctorate program yesterday and some of the things he said really hit home with me. As of late, I’ve been reading my Bible more and spending more time with God in general. The sad thing is, I’ve been reading my Bible more because I normally read it before I study for my DATs. This might sound really bad, but I’m going to be honest. I’d rather read my Bible than study for the DATs because I really don’t want to study. However, the spending time with God part has been good. I’ve been praying a lot more while I’m driving because I drive a lot these days. It passes the time and sure as heck beats whatever music they play on the radio.
But what I realized was this: I’ve been reading my Bible more and I’ve been praying more, but I haven’t been meditating on the things I read or pray about… more. And this is a major flaw. I can read my Bible and pray and then life takes over. I forget the things I’ve learned almost instantly. Pastor Ben said that he would rather have people not know the Bible inside and out then to know it and not live by it. He also said, “You are accountable when you know something.” So for all you closet Bible nerds out there, do something with that knowledge!
So my prayer request is this: That I meditate and APPLY what I learn.
Thanks.
