Power of the internet
I bought my first golf club on eBay at the most ridiculous price you could find and as you might imagine, I was pretty worried that it was a counterfeit (believe it or not, there are a lot of counterfeit golf clubs on eBay).
Well, the seller just shipped the club out this morning and I got access to his e-mail address and name. It just so happens, the guy I bought my club from is a PGA professional and is actually the head PGA instructor at a semi-notable golf course.
I am at ease for two reasons: (1) the club probably isn’t a fake and (2) if it is, then I know where to find him.
When same things are always enjoyable
My weekends always look the same. Church, family, friends, golf. Rinse and repeat. I’m not complaining.
This weekend was no exception with a few exceptions. (1) Saw a truck get hit by a train, (2) had an official golf lesson with the Open Door, (3) started children’s ministry.
More fisheye
It was my parent’s 27th anniversary today. Had dinner and then went to the golf range. Shooting with the fisheye some more. I’m getting inconsistent results with the focus, but I’m not sure if it’s me or the lens. Gotta keep on shooting I guess.

The distortion is really dependent on how close things are to the lens. And if there aren’t any verticals, it’s really hard to notice the fisheye effect.
Edit: Found out what was wrong with the focus. I removed the clear filter behind the lens thinking it might hit the mirror. Well, the clear filter is needed to focus to infinity. I don’t think it affects sharpness too badly and the mirror clears the rear element with filter on.
Probably one of the coolest iPhone apps I’ve seen

Golfshot: Golf GPS! I’ve seen some handheld devices at golf stores, but this is totally worth the $30 bucks! I’m very tempted to buy it. I was surprised that they even have the smaller golf courses in our area in the database.
If you’re a golfer and own an iPhone, this app seems handy. As a matter of fact, I’m going to start putting my iTunes gift cards to use…
On becoming an old man…
I’m the type of person that needs to hate on something before I get interested in it. When Pokemon first came out on Game Boy, I hated on that game hardcore. I made fun of my friends for playing such a dumb game. A few months later, I was hooked. Then when the card game came out, I hated on that too. A few months later, I was hooked.
Then there was golf. I made fun of my brother for perpetuating the stereotype that all dentists golf. And here I am, a few months later, dreaming about playing and lusting over my own set of clubs.
Anyways, yesterday a few of us went to Royal Vista, a country club in Walnut. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. This place is surrounded by houses and their par 3’s are what I thought were par 5’s. I’m terrible at golf, but it’s the people that make it enjoyable. Yesterday had it’s good and bad moments, but LP made it all the worth while. Actually, he made golfing worth while for all eternity.
And then LP did this while looking for his ball. Best day ever.

And then he insisted that we golf in the sprinklers and until the moon came out.
